PARING BOL-ANON IN THE WWW

It is no doubt our joy to become part of the WWW community as science and technology make advances in today's world of communication. Whereas in the not so distant past transmissions depended so much on human couriers between two post offices or were at the mercy of operators between two long distance companies or through automated machines taking calls from people somewhere in those offices... but now, with only a click of a mouse or what-have-you, one is right there in the midst of all these communication bonanza which I believe is at an all time high, what with the advent of these so-called Instant Messengers and Cam2Cam interaction between two persons from opposite side of the globe. Even. Wew! How fortunate are we to have made it this far or to what we initially thought was only possible in science fiction movies early in life, a sort of a bond movies in the 70s or 80s. Now, actually, we're in the middle of all these... and funny, we're also being dragged into taking part in all the other wonderful stuff the Internet Age has ushered right in front of us.

Welcome your Paring Bol-anon to the WWW and welcome to the world of the Paring Bol-anon's presence in your virtual realities.

ONE HEART, ONE MIND

Written for the 9th Paring Bol-anon, USA Reunion
Toronto, Canada (1993)

Words and music by TQ Solis, Jr.

Produced by Gerry Peters

Executively produced by Fr. J. Roel Lungay

From the album, One Mind, One Heart

1
Here we are from afar
Once more as we gather together
With each other
Although we live apart
Yet we're so near.

2
Some will come, some will go
But that's not to say it's a broken dream;
Just the life we live.
How wondrous time we share til now.

Refrain:
Because we are one,
One heart, one mind with a common bond.
A gift from high above
Be sure to make it lasts
Carry on, Carry on
With that burning faith in God.

Because we are one,
One heart, one mind, with a common bond.
A gift from high above
Be sure to make it lasts
Carry on, carry on
With that burning faith in God...

Coda:
We are one.
One heart, one mind
With a common bond!

PRIESTLY HANDS, PRIESTLY VOICE

PRIESTLY HANDS, PRIESTLY VOICE

Words by Fr. Arnold Zamora, Fr. Daniel Nascimento

& Fr. Meg Magat

Music by Fr. Arnold Zamora

1
Hands raised up in prayer
Hands that bless and pardon
Hands that touch to heal the sick
Reached out to all in need;
Use these hands O Lord
To gather all your children
To become one body, and become one people
Through these hands anointed for your works.

2
Voices to proclaim
Words of your salvation
Voice to comfort, to console
A light to every soul;
Use this voice O Lord
To bring the power of your Word
Voice to plead for mercy
To give hope to the lowly
With this voice, we sing a hymn of praise.

Chorus:
Priestly Hands, Priestly Voice
For Your people to rejoice
Priestly Hands, Priestly Voice
These our offering to the world
For You, Lord.

3
With these hands and voice
We acclaim your glory
Through these hands and voice you gave
The lost souls we can save;
Use these hands and voice
To consecrate the bread and wine
To become your body and your blood
We offer to your church
That all may live in You!

(Repeat Chorus)

Coda:
Priestly Hands, Priestly Voice
Let God's people now rejoice
Priestly Hands, Priestly Voice
God has offered to the world
Let's rejoice!
Let's rejoice!
Let's rejoice!

VATICAN HUMOR - I THINK IT'S GOD

After getting Pope Benedict’s entire luggage loaded into the limo, (and he doesn't travel light), the driver notices the Pope is still standing on the curb.

'Excuse me, Your Holiness,' says the driver, 'Would you please take your seat so we can leave?'

'Well, to tell you the truth,' says the Pope, 'they never let me drive at the Vatican when I was a cardinal, and I'd really like to drive today.'

'I'm sorry, Your Holiness, but I cannot let you do that. I'd lose my job! What if something should happen?' protests the driver, wishing he'd never gone to work that morning..

'Who's going to tell?' says the Pope with a smile.

Reluctantly, the driver gets in the back as the Pope climbs in behind the wheel. The driver quickly regrets his decision when, after exiting the airport, the Pontiff floors it, accelerating the limo to 205 kph.. (Remember, the Pope is German..)

'Please slow down, Your Holiness!' pleads the worried driver, but the Pope keeps the pedal to the metal until they hear sirens.

'Oh, dear God, I'm going to lose my license -- and my job!' moans the driver.

The Pope pulls over and rolls down the window as the cop approaches, but the cop takes one look at him, goes back to his motorcycle, and gets on the radio.

'I need to talk to the Chief,' he says to the dispatcher.

The Chief gets on the radio and the cop tells him that he's stopped a limo going 205 kph.

'So bust him,' says the Chief.

'I don't think we want to do that, he's really important,' said the cop.

The Chief exclaimed,' All the more reason!'

'No, I mean really important,' said the cop with a bit of persistence.

The Chief then asked, 'Who do you have there, the mayor?'
Cop: 'Bigger.'

Chief: ' A senator?'
Cop: 'Bigger.'

Chief: 'The Prime Minister?'
Cop: 'Bigger.'

'Well,' said the Chief, 'who is it?'

Cop: 'I think it's God!'

The Chief is even more puzzled and curious, 'What makes you think it's God?'

Cop: 'His chauffeur is the Pope!'

ARCHBISHOP BARNEY AUZA OF TALIBON IS THE NEW ENVOY TO HAITI

TOUGH TASKS AWAITS FILIPINO PAPAL ENVOY TO HAITI

CBCP NEWS MANILA, July 21, 2008 — Newly consecrated Filipino archbishop Bernardito Auza has the least enviable job in his latest pastoral mission.

As the new apostolic nuncio to Haiti, the 49-year old Boholano prelate is faced with squaring a tough circle of ever-growing challenges.

The latest reports from the international media makes grim reading.

It highlights a never-ending conflict and even bloodshed as its people are longing for economic and political stability.

The words used by Papal nuncio in the Philippines Archbishop Edward Joseph Adams in describing Archbishop Auza’s work are “not a small one.”

Haiti is one of the poorest countries on earth with about 56 percent of its 8.2 million populations live in extreme poverty.

Adams, in his sermon during Auza’s thanksgiving Mass at the Manila Cathedral yesterday, said the news from Haiti is not very good.

The country, he said, is deeply in need and the economy bleed dry, violence everywhere.

“There a people wait to be helped in their efforts of material and spiritual progress,” said Adams.

At one time around 85% of the eight million or so Haitians were Catholics. Today, they make up less than 50% of the population.

And sadly, many of them only have a hazy understanding of the teachings of the Church— especially those unable to afford a good education.

Adams said the situation in Haiti represents a major challenge for the Catholic Church and needs to be countered with the help of priests, religious and lay pastoral workers.

Auza will celebrate Mass with Haiti’s Catholic bishops on September 9 but he will officially assume his post as Papal nuncio on August 15

He himself admitted the urgent issues he has to face in his new assignment. “There are many issues, I’m sure,” Auza said.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed Auza as Nuncio to Haiti last May 8 but it was only last July 3 when he was ordained to the episcopacy by Vatican’s Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone at the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome.

The prelate is the fourth Filipino to be appointed to such a high diplomatic position in the Catholic Church.

The first to be named apostolic nuncio is Archbishop Oswaldo Padilla, now in Korea . The third is his younger brother, Archbishop Francisco Padilla, now in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands . The second is Archbishop Adolfo Yllana currently in Pakistan . (Roy Lagarde)

PARING BOL-ANON REUNIONS

How exhilarating it is to get away - from work and ministry - and get another shot in the arm by some sort of renewal and refreshment one can only get by way of inter-personal relationships with people on the same journey in life. Being with brother priests, and friends within the circle, certainly gives that opportunity as well as the "rejuvenative vitamins" a priest needs to further the pathway he has taken in answer of that call. Personally I can only thank God and each and every brother priest for that special moment I was privileged to take part of and for the confirmation of my priesthood and ministry we all share together as "soldiers of Christ" in this wonderful battlefield of life. Lest I forget, the infinite laughs (as in bahakhak), the constant teases (Pitbals syndrome), the candid poses (UTube prospects), the exquisite food and drinks, the long-overdue sweats in golf and tennis, the late night caps, stories and beers, new friends along the way, the memorable city tour, the music, etc... but more importantly the time well-spent like a family... and if I ever missed something, still, I thank you!!!

CHRISTMAS WITH MSGR. FLORO ARCAMO & THE SINGING PRIESTS OF SAN FRANCISCO

The Singing Priests of San Francisco are Filipino Catholic priests in the Archdiocese of San Francisco who, in 1986, formed a singing group and, with the support and encouragement of many of their friends, sang and performed concerts in many cities around the country, for a worthy cause: to raise funds for young men in the Philippines aspiring to become priests and studying at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. The group, however, had to disband a couple of years later because of their commitments to their respective parishes. Singing was only their pastime gig.

This album, MERRY CHRISTMAS WITH MONSIGNOR FLORO ARCAMO & ORIGINAL SINGING PRIESTS OF SAN FRANCISCO, is a compilation of the Singing Priests' second album (Christmas Invitation) completed towards the end of 1987. This album includes other songs that were not part of that said album.

Except for a couple of songs by other priest-artists, this compilation is mostly sung by Monsignor Arcamo, with the Singing Priests of San Francisco.

Our prayer is that this album will add color and joy to your celebration of the most joyous and blessed season of the year: the birth of our Messiah and King - the Infant Jesus.
